Business Academy Chrudim

Dear friends, dear students!

Welcome to Chrudim Business Academy websites. We are the second oldest school of this type in the Czech Republic. We are proud of our school which managed to harmonize a traditional and modern approach to education.  We have been applying a method of “caring difficulty” for many years.  Our satisfied and highly successful students in both final-leaving exams and in the labour market mean a real reward to us. They find their jobs and they assert themselves in professional life as well as I did – being a graduate of this school.

Good quality economists will always find their place in the labour market. The Job Centre in Pardubice informs that employers constantly look for business academy graduates.

Headteacher of the school

History of the school. Essentials.

The date of its foundation points to the second oldest school of this type. The building of our school was built with the financial support of the town in 1893.The school has been run in the same building up to now.

Originally 3 years long study was prolonged to 4 years study program and since 1920 the studying programme has been completed with a final leaving examination. A post-war era brought not only modifications in curricula but also the content of the studying, and the name of the school changed several times. The school returned to its original name in 1991.

The school is located in Chrudim, Tyršovo náměstí 250. It was set up as a state-funded school and so the studies are free of charge.

The Business Academy in Chrudim provides 4-year study program “Business Academy” with the following specializations:

  • English/German in Economics
  • Application of Information Technologies in Economics
  • Economics in Business
  • Tourism and Guide Services

Principle of caring difficulty

We apply an idea of „caring difficulty“. That means a partnership relationship between teachers and students. Every student can freely express his or her opinion. Generosity and comprehension cannot be confused with reduced demands for study results.

Our mission

“Try not to become a man of success. Rather become a man of value.”
Albert Einstein

The mission of our school sources in the philosophy of this quotation. We strive to educate our students to live successfully not only their professional lives but also and mainly their personal lives.

We raise our students to respect elementary values in the spirit of European humanism and democracy, which means to respect the freedom of an individual and to recognize individual specifics and differences.

Further, we raise our students to become independent and responsible for their lives and  acting, we lead them to tolerance and respect to all people. At the same time we wish to bring them up to the solidarity with those who need it.

Why to study with us?

High success rate at university entrance exams

01
The contemporary development of the society is heading towards a growing percentage of a university educated population. An overwhelming majority of our graduates continues their studies at universities. They mostly study economics and linguistics subjects and other programs. However, many times they are enrolled at schools with technical disciplines, humanities or pedagogical subjects. The applicants coming from Business Academy in Chrudim usually achieve comparative results with entrance placement tests and national benchmark tests, which opens door to both “ big famous” universities (i.e. University of Economics in Prague, Charles University in Prague or Masaryk´s University in Brno) and popular disciplines at regional universities. We pay attention to the language skills of our students and to the

quality teaching of general subjects especially mathematics and so our students manage their further studies at universities without big difficulties. As for the special subjects students of Business Academy are largely in advance in comparison to the graduates from grammar schools.

High chances of employment for our graduates

Finding a place in the labour market is an essential parameter to measure a success rate of the school. Business Academy regularly finds out about the employment rate of its graduates. According to the information from the Job Centre in Pardubice region they do not register a single unemployed graduate of our school. This is no surprise as there is a persisting interest in employees with practical economics and language and accountancy skills, and current forecasts show positive trends in the labour market to the future as well. The graduates of our school have gained a good reputation among employers in Pardubice region. Many former students run their own business and so they benefit from knowledge and skills acquired during their studies at Business Academy in Chrudim. The labour market success of school leavers is obviously still high referring to the statistics showing the unemployment rates where our graduates occur deep below unemployment rate graduates from technical, science, humanities, agriculture and also medially popular technical disciplines.

Warm and friendly environment

We pride ourselves on the environment of our school; we focus on good atmosphere in classes and harmony between the teachers and pupils. All our pedagogical staff members are dedicated to act in compliance with a simple principle, i.e. caring difficulty, as it has been aptly described by the headmaster of the school. That means a partnership, still very professional approach to the pupils involving empathy to prevent and find solutions of potential difficulties coming along with the studies. We are convinced that providing such a warm environment supports both cooperation and an activity or creativity, it motivates and encourages positively not only maturing students’ spirit but also their studying results. We welcome a huge interest in extra curriculum activities and projects and consistently excellent results of our students at Czech final leaving exams. No dispute either between the pupils or pupils and teachers is also an evidence of well orientated development of the school.

International Business English certificates

Our students are challenged to pass an international exam – Cambridge English: Business (BEC) which is completed with a worldwide recognized certificate.

They are provided with preparation for the exams using educational school materials within teaching technical English language in the third and fourth year. All the applicants are able to pass the exam for Preliminary Level in the 4th year.

International Business English is harmonized with the Common European Framework or Reference European Council (CEFR A2 –C2) which is stated on the certificate. The achieved level of knowledge is long-life valid.

The certificates are recognized not only by national institutions, banks, business and industrial organizations, but also by universities in Anglo-Saxon Countries and all the member countries of European Unions. The certificates can apply as a part of documentation for internships abroad and are registered among standardized language exams set out by Ministry of Education. The graduates of the school can find this great advantage of acquiring a proof of competence in general and business foreign language.

The successfully passed exam Cambridge English: Business (BEC, Preliminary) enables to replace one compulsory and one non-compulsory exam in a foreign language in the profile part of the final leaving exam.

International links

In 2006/07 our school joined a global project titled Dreams and Teams Young Leader Programme under the umbrella of the British Council, which enabled us to get in touch with Churchill Community College, Wallsend, Tyne and Wear, Great Britain. http://www.churchillcommunitycollege.org).

01
There has been established a student’s club Dreams and Teams at school. Its members take part in activities linked to the English school. Our common projects involve for example sports festivals organized for the clients of a day care centre Jitřenka, the Social Care Home in Slatiňany and Special basic school in Chrudim since 2006. Many times we invite pupils of other basic schools in Chrudim to participate in the held events. Every year students and teachers undertake reciprocal visits.
